Winery Spotlight: Frog's Leap

About Frogs Leap Winery

Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, amid rolling vineyards and majestic oak trees, lies a winery with a unique and unforgettable name: Frog's Leap. But don't let the name fool you, Frog's Leap Winery is serious about making great sustainable wines.

A Leap Back in Time: The History of Frog's Leap

The story of Frog's Leap begins in 1981 when founders John Williams and Larry Turley decided to take a leap of faith and start their own winery. Inspired by the pioneering spirit of Napa Valley's early winemakers, they set out to create wines that reflected the unique terroir of the region while respecting the environment.

Location, Location, Location

Frog's Leap is located in the Rutherford AVA (American Viticultural Area) of Napa Valley, renowned for its exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. The winery's estate vineyards span 200 acres of certified organic and dry-farmed vineyards, where vines bask in the warm California sun and thrive in the region's diverse soils.

What Sets Frog's Leap Apart

What makes Frog's Leap truly special is its unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. From organic farming practices to solar-powered operations, the winery strives to minimize its carbon footprint and protect the land for future generations.

But it's not just about sustainability, Frog's Leap is also known for its dedication to crafting wines of exceptional quality and character. Their minimalist approach to winemaking allows the fruit to shine, resulting in wines that are vibrant and balanced but not overly expensive. While many other wineries in Napa Valley are charging hundreds of dollars per bottle, Frog's Leap wines are much more reasonably priced.

A Leap of Flavors: The Wines of Frog's Leap

Frog's Leap Sauvignon Blanc

Frog's Leap produces a diverse portfolio of wines, ranging from crisp whites to robust reds. Their Sauvignon Blanc from the North Coast is a customer favorite, bursting with citrus and tropical fruit flavors, while their Chardonnay offers layers of richness and elegance.

For red wine drinkers, Frog's Leap offers a few good options, from their signature Cabernet Sauvignon, with its luscious dark berry flavors and velvety tannins, to their Merlot, with its plush texture and vibrant red fruit notes. And let's not forget their Zinfandel, a true expression of Napa Valley's sun-drenched terroir, brimming with ripe berry and spice aromas.

A Leap into the Future

As Frog's Leap looks to the future, their commitment to sustainability remains unwavering. They continue to innovate and explore new ways to tread lightly on the land while crafting wines that are high quality but still within the budget of most wine enthusiast.
