Buchegger Ried Vordernberg DAC Kremstal Erste Lage Riesling Austria 2021

The story began way back in 1893, and the Buchegger family has devoted itself diligently to wine growing ever since then. Of course, wine and the vine have a much longer tradition in Gedersdorf – first mentioned in an official document in 1190 – where most of the vineyards of the Buchegger estate are growing. At that time, the local monasteries owned vineyards and harvested the best grapes from parcels in the Holzgasse or Moosburgerin, which 800 years ago bore the same names as they do today.

The Buchegger 2021 Riesling Ried Moosburgerin 1ÖTW shows clear, fine, spicy and intense fruit on the dense and elegant nose. It is elegant, dense and substantial on the palate, with a salty texture and crystalline acidity. Good length. Screw-cap closure. Tasted in Grafenegg in September 2022.

Delicate floral, a hint of orchard peach, fresh lime zest. Juicy, elegant, white tropical fruit, delicate acidity, salty and zingy. Very giving on the attack yet still very taught with a mineral core that persists Drinks well now or aged 10-15 years.
