Sandro Fay 'Ca Morei' Valtellina Superiore DOCG Valgella 2018 Sustainable

The 2.5-hectare Cà Moréi vineyard is located in the Valgella sub-zone at 550 meters, in the commune of Teglio. This dialect name means 'The House of the Morelli', and it identifies the house where Mansueto Morelli lived with his family Di Lui at the beginning of the twentieth century. His daughter, Emma married Pietro Fay in 1947.

The vineyard is situated at 550 m asl in the east part of the municipality of Teglio, south exposure of the Valgella, Ca Morei vineyard. The soil is Sandy (70%), silty (20%) with an acidic pH level.

The grapes are picked in the second half of October. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tank; malolactic fermentation and aging for 12 months in 30 Hl oak casks and 500 liter oak barrels.

100% Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grown on Guyot trellising.

Wine Notes
Black cherry, roses, licorice, and a trace of cinnamon bark. This exceptional wine has a persistent yet soft tannin structure. A beautiful and immediately accessible expression of Nebbiolo, that carries the freshness and vitality of youth with the complexity and depth often revealed by age. “Barolo-like” characteristics.
