Baron Ziegler – Owner

Originally from Minnesota, Baron began buying Bordeaux futures at 15, later using the profits to buy a condo while attending Boston University. At 18, he joined top sommelier Peter Eastlake’s wine shop, eventually managing three stores and buying wines by the container. He deferred medical school to work for importer Eric Solomon, where he rose to national sales director over ten years. In 2007, Baron moved to California and went on to co-found Banshee Wines, Valkyrie Selections, Averaen, Valravn, and Requiem.

Rob Fischer (winemaker), a Napa native, Rob didn’t plan on a winemaking career until a tasting room job at Domaine Carneros sparked his interest. What began as a summer role turned into six years of hands-on experience in the cellar and lab, where he discovered a passion for the craft. He later worked harvest at Donum Estate before earning his Enology degree at Fresno State. Rob went on to become assistant winemaker at Ancient Wines, then spent nine years at Etude, Lyric, and Beaulieu Vineyards, rising through the ranks at Treasury Wine Estates.

Wine Notes

Aroma & Nose: Vibrant aromas of Meyer lemon custard, white flowers, lemon verbena, and orchard fruits like pear and apple, uplifted by subtle floral and stony notes.

Palate & Flavor: Medium‑to‑full body with bright acidity that balances a creamy, lush fruit core. Flavors include ripe apple, melon, lemon chiffon, kiwi, and candied ginger, followed by brioche, marzipan, and light toasted oak. There’s a saline, mineral edge that keeps it fresh and focused.

Mouthfeel & Finish: Smooth and rich, with a lingering tension and salinity on the finish
