Frog's Leap Napa Valley Rutherford Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Organic (Regular $57.99)

95 points Vinous

Founded by John Williams in 1981, Frog’s Leap continues to be family-owned and operated. John is still the owner and winemaker having made every vintage over the past 38 years. This is a classically structured Cabernet that is the result of a decades-long pursuit to obtain vineyards on the Rutherford Bench. Frog's Leap's Estate Cabernet comes from their Rossi and Chavez-Leeds vineyards. Harvested in mid-September and aged 20 months in French Oak.

Tasting Notes

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is such a gorgeous wine. In 2017, the Frog's Leap Cabernet has a bit more depth and richness, as it often does in warmer years. Cedar, tobacco, mint and sweet red cherry are all pushed forward in a succulent Cabernet with tons of character that still retains its super-classic, mid-weight feel. Time in the glass brings out the wine's aromatic nuance and silkiness. The Frog's Leap Cabernet remains an under the radar gem in today's Napa Valley. Vinous

Tatomer Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2019 (Regular $27.99

95 Points Wine Enthusiast

Santa Barbara native Graham Tatomer got into wine while he was still in high school, working a summer job at Santa Barbara Winery. Initially it was a simple job but it soon grew into a passion and now nearly two decades later, this has become Graham's life pursuit.  He is focused on producing Pinot Noir from cool sites that provides lighter style with nuanced flavors and bracing acidity. Aged in oak for 12 months.

Tasting Notes

A blend of amazing Pinot Noir vineyards from within and around the Sta. Rita Hills. These vines are carefully tended to maximize flavor. Once harvested the grapes are all fermented in small lots with an emphasis on body and aroma. The goal has always been to vastly over deliver with this wine. The template I am going for is something like Bachelet Côte des Nuits Village, or Simone Bize Savigny les Beaune. Graham Tatomer

Ravenots i Blanc Sparkling 2018 (Regular $24.99)

92 points Vinous

The Raventós i Blanc estate, which is comprised on 90 hectares of woodlands and vineyards, was founded in 1497 and has been passed on through the family to the present day. It was a member of the Raventós family, Josep Raventós Fatjó, who made the first Cava in 1872. In 1984, on the family estate, Josep-Maria Raventós I Blanc founded the winery as we know it today with a singular focus on achieving the highest quality wines.

Tasting Notes

"Pale, green-tinged yellow. Lively, mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruits and succulent flowers on the nose, along with fennel and ginger accents that build as the wine stretches out. Sharply focused and lively on the palate, offering intense Meyer lemon, pear skin and honeysuckle flavors underscored by a smoky mineral quality. Shows impressive energy and minerally thrust on the finish, which hangs on with strong tenacity." Vinous

Tasting Notes

White Bordeaux is an underrated category at this price. Intense nose of citrus zest, ripe apricot, marmalade and vanilla spice. The palate is balanced with notes of grass, lemon, dried fruits, chalk and oak. Full-bodied with a round and slight creamy finish.

Chateau Lacaussade Saint-Martin "Trois Moulins" Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux 2018 (Regular $17.99)

Aged in French oak barrels, this wine is rich and full with black fruit, sweet spice, cinnamon and toasted oak. Silky tannins, elegant with spot on fruit flavors and a complex finish. Balanced with indeed.

Botijo Rojo Valdejalon Garnacha 2018 (Regular $16.99)

90 points Wine Advocate

El Botijo is a limited production, micro wine straight from a garage in Valdejalon (North East Spain) where Fernando Mora and Mario López make wines with the absolute minimum of fuss. It’s named after the ancient clay drinking water container -still used by growers to day- cooling water in Spain’s hot, dry climate. Handpicked grapes from a dry farmed, certified organic vineyards with 20-50 year old vines.

Tasting Notes

A lovely pomegranate red with intense aromas of cherries and blackberries and black pepper on spicy backdrop. This is an intense, fresh and fruity wine with well-balanced tannins and pleasing minerality, reflecting all the simplicity and ingenuity of its namesake.
