Incredible, young Sauternes with so much spicy, dried-mushroom, dust and powdered-earth character on the nose and palate, Full-bodied with a medium-sweet palate and a finish that is endless. Apricots, dried lemons and peaches. Caramel. Great balance. Greatest modern vintage? 6,000 bottles made.

The 2021 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the wines of the year in Sauternes. Creamy and beautifully resonant in the glass, it offers up a compelling mélange of pineapple, mint, ginger, orange confit, chamomile, passionfruit and floral-infused honey. The 2021 is exotic and wonderfully deep, yet not at all heavy. It's too bad Sauternes is such an out of favor category, as great wines like this don't get much attention. That's a shame, because Lafaurie-Peyraguey is truly magnificent in 2021. Tasted two times.

The 2021 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is terrific, if not the finest vintage I've tasted from this château. Coming from 93% Semillon, 6% Sauvignon, and 1% Muscadelle, representing a selection of 65% of the production, it offers a beautiful perfume of ripe peach, honeyed citrus, marmalade and flower oil. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has plenty of opulence and sweetness yet stays pure, focused, and vibrant, with a great finish. It's a gorgeous Sauternes in the making.
