Chateau De La Roulerie Anjou Chenin Blanc 2017 Organic

  • 1799

Chateau de la Roulerie is located in the commune of Saint Aubin de Luigne in the Loire Valley of France.  The estate was established in the 19th century but its vineyards dates back to the 14th century.  Today is encompasses 42 hectares of vines, 30 of which Chenin Blanc and 12 of Cabernet Franc.  Their philosophy is to respect the earth, its history and the people who tend to it.  This winery is certified "Agriculture Biodynamic", or Organic.

The current owner is Philippe Germain who reinitiated winemaking on the estate after a hiatus of 20 years. With help from his wife and brother, Philippe farms 38 hectares of vines which have been certified organic since 2015. These holdings include terraced plots on the gentle slopes of the Val du Layon which are a real rarity in the Loire Valley. The property is predominantly planted with Chenin Blanc which thrives on the schist soils.

WINE NOTES

A beautiful yellow robe in the glass presents a nose of white flowers and bright citrus notes, and a hint of honeysuckle.  The mouth is elegant and well balanced, with a crisp acidity typical of the Chenin blanc varietal.

This wine pairs well with white meats, fish, and semi-spicy cuisines.
