Turnbull Wine Cellars Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Turnbull Wine Cellars is a small, family-owned, multi-generation business with 145 acres of vineyards within the Oakville Viticultural Appellation. The brand and label design pays tribute to their heritage and speaks to the present and future of the small, family-owned winery. The central, powerful figure of a bull represents the belief in the character and place of origin for their exceptional and honest wines, while the original Johnson Turnbull Vineyards watermark seal speaks to the beginnings of the winery in 1979. Originally founded by architect William Turnbull Jr, who designed the winery himself. Turnbull is known for his development of Sea Ranch communities in Sonoma County.
The grapes are first picked over three passes. Next, the whole cluster fruit is lightly pressed to preserve freshness and fruit aromatics. The resulting Sauvignon Blanc is then fermented first in terracotta amphora, and finally aged in seasoned French oak and acacia barrels, and a small stainless steel tank.
Wine Notes
The wine rests on the lees for four months, with weekly battonage and the final product sees delicate aromas of white stone fruit blossoms, lychee, and a hint of wet flint. It displays a soft entry, with crisp acidity and a thrilling structural core.
