Ravenswood Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel 2004
Discover the old vines, pre-Prohibition survivors that were dry farmed from one of the original California winemakers. Before Prohibition, Zinfandel was the state's most widely planted grape. Zinmaster Joel Peterson says, "I like Zin because it's a tough old bird. Treat it with the respect it deserves, and it soars." This wine comes from the famous Zin town of Lodi, a warm region that lines directly parrallel with the Golden Gate, that experiences the breezes in the afternoon. Ancient vines are grown on alluvial soil where roots grow very deep.
"Shows ripe plum and licorice aromas, with lively, slightly untamed dried cherry, spice, and blueberry flavors. Drink now."Wine Spectator. 14.5% Alc.
