Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco DOCG Nebbiolo 2010
The great red wine of Italy’s Piedmont is Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, one of the three famous villages within the Barbaresco DOCG. The wine-rich and hilly area of Northwest Italy is perfect for producing the finest and longest-lived wines from Nebbiolo. Robert M. Parker Jr. describes the joint effort of Produttori del Barbaresco’s 56 members…. “(It) continues to set some of the highest standards of winemaking for any cooperative in the world”.
Originally called the Cantina Sociale, the Co Op was founded by Domizo Cavazza in 1894. Roughly a third the size of Barolo, the Barbresco zone shares similar soils with Barolo’s La Morra, a mixture of marl and sand.
The 2010 vintage is wonderfully balanced and refined and surprisingly approachable. Capable of aging but also enjoyable now. A great value for such an outstanding wine of quality.

92 Points James Suckling “Beautiful aromas of white truffles, plums and berries. Hints of spices. Full to medium body with fine tannins and beautiful licorice, berry and fennel seed. Very pretty length. Drinkable now but better in 2015.
90+ Points Antonio Galloni “The 2010 Barbaresco is a pretty, slender wine endowed with lovely energy and class. Sweet red berries, flowers, mint and spice inform this high-toned, fragrant Barbaresco. The mid-weight personality of the vintage at the Produttori is evident. I would give the 2010 a few years in bottle and drink it to age 20. This is the kind of wine that can surprise on the upside.”
