Gunderloch German Riesling

Gunderloch Jean Baptiste Kabinett Riesling Rheinhessen 2017

  • 1999

Long established estate was founded in 1890 by the banker Carl Gunderloch, who was also the first President and founding member of the Rheinhessen VDP.  Currently the Hasselbach family is in charge of cultivating the 24 ha of vines which are planted to 85% Riesling. The estate owns quite a few Grand Cru vineyards situated on red slate and clay. The Jean Baptiste is a blend of Riesling cultivated from the terraces just beneath these Grand Cru vineyards (Nierstein Hipping, Nierstein Pettenthal and Nackenheim Rothenberg).  They have been practicing organic farming for over 5 years now and certified vegan since the 2017 vintage.

Wine Notes

This dry style Riesling brings flavors of passionfruit, peach and ripe lemon followed by intense minerality and super long finish. Excellent pairing with poultry, turkey, Beijing duck, spicy Asian foods and pan fried pork dumplings.
