Elizabeth Spencer Mendocino County Rosé 2021
Owned by the same family for nearly 100 years, the vineyard for our rosé of Grenache is located on the southwestern facing slope along the Talmage Bench east of Ukiah in Mendocino County. The Russian River flows the length of the Ukiah Valley, and the fertile flood plain of this famous waterway is flanked by miles of benchland. The rough, stony, well-drained soils here force the vines to struggle throughout the growing season, and as a result, the small berries develop concentrated aromatics and flavors.
Proprietor Selected Special Cuvee from Elizabeth Spencer. A husband and wife team, Spencer Graham and Elizabeth Pressler have been making wine together since 1997. Elizabeth started working her way in the restaurant industry as a sommelier, pursued the wine industry career at Chalk Hill Winery, Eisele, and Hess just to name a few. Graham was born in Vienna, grew up in Brazil and also started as a sommelier in a restaurant. Both had the first date at the famous French Laundry restaurant in Napa and decided to make Napa their home. Combining their back ground in food and love of wine, Elizabeth and Graham created Elizabeth Spencer to be partners in life and partners in wine.
Crafted with purpose from the outset, our rosé of Grenache shows pale amber in the glass, with an abundance of lush tropical fruit like tart kiwi and pineapple on the nose. The palate offers fresh stone fruit notes of nectarine, mango with hints of crisp green apple. Delicate with bright acidity, this wine offers enough structure to enjoy year round. 13.9% Alc.
