Chateau de Chantegrive is a family owned estate in one of the largest and most prestigious vineyard in the Graves appellation. Grave means gravel in French and it is the only appellation named after the soil which produces the wine.

Started by Henri and Francois Leveque in 1966, Marie Helene Leveque now carries on the work of her parents. Currently Hubert de Bouard, owner of world famous Chateau Angelus is the acting consultant and oenologist. Cuvee Caroline" is the estate's top White wine. The 95 hectare Southern Graves vineyard of Chateau Chantegrive is planted to both red and white wine grapes. 60 hectares are used for the production of red Bordeaux wine. 35 hectares are reserved for the production of white Bordeaux wine.
Hand picked in small crush-proof crates and crushing in oxygen free environment. Cold maceration on the skin and pre fermentation for 3 weeks. Followed by barrel fermentation in French oak (50% new) for 9 months on the lees with stirring.

White Graves is an underrated category at this price. Intense nose of citrus zest, ripe apricot, marmalade and vanilla spice. The palate is balanced with notes of grass, lemon, dried fruits, chalk and oak. Full-bodied with a round and slight creamy finish. 13% Alc. by Vol. Pair with  scallops, prawns or fish with cream sauce, light cheese and foie gras.
