Cellier des Dauphins Cotes du Rhone Cru Vinsobres 2017

  • 1699

Did you know Vinsobres means "vine" and "work", which explains why this charming village in the Rhone Valley has remained a place of vineyards and winegrowers.  Vinsobres was granted the highest AOC status as a Cru in 2006 which also means the wine must contain a minimum of 50% Grenache and 25% Syrah or Mourvedre. With just 30 estates and 3 cooperative cellars in this area, Cellier des Dauphins has delicately produced an excellent quality and value for money wine from this highly ranked Cru village.

Made from 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah grown on stony clay-limestone soils at around 1000-1200ft, destemmed, cool maceration, followed by 3 weeks of stainless steel vinification and then aged in oak for 6 to 10 months.

Wine Notes

"This is a rich, velvety blend of Grenache and Syrah accented by perfumed notes of cacao, violet and herbs de Provence. Black cherry and plum flavors are lusciously concentrated, leading into a long, softly tannic finish. A glossy, supple wine that's ready now but structured enough to enjoy through 2025." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
