Gostolai "Frutos de Beranu" Cannonau di Sardegna 2015
Sardina is known for white sandy beaches, turquoise water and rugged island terrain. However there is another treasure: Wine! This is the Mediterranean's second largest island, just overshadowed by Sicily by 6 percent. Many Sardinian vineyards are tiny, hidden and high up in the hills. The most well known red grape is Cannonau. This is the island's noblest's red. The appellation is name after the grape, which is called Cannonau di Sardegna (aka Grenache). However Cannonau has adapted to the eastern side of the Sardinian island and it's warm climate, hence a specific name and appellation was created. "Frutos de Beranu" means spring fruit. The grapes were harvested before reaching high sugar levels to maintain good acidity and freshness. The grapes were vinified with their own native yeasts to preserve the characteristics of the fruit.
