Quinta de La Rosa is a family owned estate of 55 hectares, well known for their Port production. The property has been in the Berqvist family since 1906, but before that as Port shippers in 1815. The Berqvist family were one of the pioneers in taking red wine production in the Douro region seriously. An area well know for producing Port, the same red grapes are now made as regular Red wine.
Quinta de la Rosa is situated in Northern Portugal, 100kms inland from Oporto. It is set in the heart of the Alto Douro ‘A’ grade port growing area and is located along the banks of the river, near Pinhão.
Aged in French Oak barrels.
Fermented in stainless-steel vats before maturing for 12 months in used French oak casks. Great structure will also ensure that the wine will age well in bottle for many years to come.
This young wine is the estate wine from this showpiece Douro estate. It has fine potential with its firm tannic structure and ripe blackberry fruits. Juicy acidity goes with the dusty texture to give all the elements for aging. Drink from 2021. Roger Voss
